Mục đích của họ là dựng nên một công ty mới, nhưng mục tiêu lớn là phát triển công nghệ góp phần khôi phục nền kinh tế Nhật Bản. Một trong số họ là Akio Morita, kỹ sư trẻ nhất, khi đó mới 25 tuổi. Sau này, Sony đã trở thành một tập đoàn đa quốc gia quyền lực nhất thế giới và Akio Morita đã trở thành Chủ tịch của tập đoàn. Ông cũng nhận thấy rằng phải tìm kiếm thị trường mới thông qua các sản phẩm chưa từng có. Khi giới thiệu về máy nghe nhạc Walkman, Morita từng nói &quot;Theo tôi việc nghiên cứu thị trường dù chi tiết đến đâu cũng chưa thể khẳng định được sự thành công của một sản phẩm&quot; Mà ông ta tin rằng nếu sản phẩm đó có chất lượng và đồng thời có chiến lược phát triển hợp lý, khi đó ta mới thực sự thành công.</subfield>
