Với mục tiêu đó, giáo trình Marketing căn bản có kết cấu 10 chương. Chương 1 giúp người học tìm hiểu bản chất của marketing. Chương 2 trang bị cho người học biết cách thức các doanh nghiệp, tổ chức, cá nhân thực hiện triết lý cốt lõi nhất của marketing là thảo mãn khách hàng để thực hiện mục tiêu của chủ thể làm marketing. Chương 3 giới thiệu cách thức xây dựng hệ thống thông tin marketing. Chương 4 và 5 giới thiệu những yếu tố chủ yếu tác động đến các quyết định marketing của các chủ thể làm marketing: đặc điểm hành vi của hai loại khách hàng điển hình (khách hàng cá nhân và khách hàng tổ chức) mà các chủ thể làm marketing kinh doanh phải hướng đến để thảo mãn và khai thác và các yếu tố khác thuộc môi trường marketing. Chương 6 giới thiệu những hoạt động chủ chốt của việc thiết lập chiến lược marketing định hướng khách hàng: phân đoạn thị trường, lựa chọn thị trường mục tiêu và định vị thị trường. Bốn chương còn lại giới thiệu các công cụ marketing chủ yếu mà các chủ thể làm marketing sử dụng để thiết lập, duy trì và phát triển mối quan hệ với những khách hàng mục tiêu, bao gồm: sản phẩm, giá bán, phân phối và truyền thông marketing.</subfield>
