   <subfield code="a">Vỏ thân cây cò sen có nhiều công dụng chữa bệnh khác nhau, nhưng tác dụng bảo vệ gan vẫn chưa được nghiên cứu. Nghiên cứu này khảo sát hoạt tính kháng oxy hóa và bảo vệ gan của cao chiết vỏ thân cây cò sen chống lại tổn thương gan do carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) gây ra. Chuột được xử lý trước bằng CCl4 (2,5 mL/kg trọng lượng mỗi ngày) trong 04 tuần liên tiếp. Sau một giờ dùng CCl4 bằng đường uống, chuột được điều trị bằng cao chiết vỏ thân cây cò sen ở các liều 100, 200 và 400 mg/kg trọng lượng chuột. Cao chiết vỏ thân cây cò sen liều 400 mg/kg cũng làm giảm hàm lượng malonyldialdehyd (3,12±1,19 nM MDA/g mô) và tăng hoạt động của glutathione (896,21±22,69 nM GSH/g mô) trong gan. Đồng thời, cao chiết vỏ thân cây cò sen liều 400 mg/kg có hiệu quả làm giảm hàm lượng alanine transaminase (38,00±6,78 U/L) và aspartate transaminase (84,60±17,01 U/L) trong huyết thanh. Tóm lại, tác dụng bảo vệ gan của cao chiết vỏ thân cây cò sen có liên quan đến hoạt động kháng oxy hóa.</subfield>
