   <subfield code="a">Giảng dạy tiếng Anh chưa bao giờ là việc dễ dàng đặc biệt đối với những nước mà ở đó tiếng Anh là ngoại ngữ. Việc giảng dạy này trở nên thử thách hơn nếu đối tượng người học là học sinh tiểu học vì năng lực tiếng Anh của các em còn thấp. Do đó, đòi hỏi giáo viên tiếng Anh tiểu học phải có những phương pháp dạy học phù hợp cho các em. Chuyển mã được xem là phương pháp được các giáo viên tiểu học lựa chọn sử dụng thường xuyên trong lớp học. Nó không những hỗ trợ giáo viên trong việc giảng dạy mà còn trong quản lý lớp học một cách hiệu quả. Vì vậy nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm tìm ra những chức năng cụ thể của chuyễn mã cũng như tìm hiểu lý do giáo viên tiếng Anh tiểu học sử dụng nó. Đối tượng của nghiên cứu này là các giáo viên tiếng Anh đang giảng dạy tại các trường tiểu học ở khu vực đồng bằng sông Cửu Long. Những công cụ được sử dụng để điều tra chức năng của chuyển mã và lý do giáo viên sử dụng nó là dự giờ, ghi âm tiết học và phỏng vấn người tham gia. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy chuyển mã thực sự được giáo viên tiểu học sử dụng nhiều trong lớp học tiếng Anh. Tuy nhiên chuyển mã phục vụ cho việc giảng dạy của giáo viên là nhiều nhất. những giáo viên cũng thừa nhận rằng nó hỗ trợ rất tốt cho họ trong giảng dạy như giúp học sinh hiểu bài tốt hơn và tiết kiệm được thời gian. Nghiên cứu này được thực với hy vọng giúp giáo viên tiếng Anh tiểu học có hiểu biết sâu sắc về các chức năng của chuyển mã cũng như khi nào nó được sử dụng trong giảng dạy.</subfield>
