Summary:This study is an investigation into the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic features of offering in English and Vietnamese business correspondence. It has a two-fold purpose: to give a description on those linguistic features of offering in business correspondence, and to compare the similarities and differences in offering between English and Vietnamese in terms of these linguistic aspects. On this basic, this study will also try to explain the reasons that cause the differences in the ways people perform offering in both languages.
