总结:This thesis has been done in an effort to investigate the linguistic features of expressions of joy in English and Vietnamese. An analysis was made to find out the news structure, syntactic features and semantic features of expressions of joy. Its corpus consisted of 12 news items of semantic expressions of joy by metaphor and syntactic features of phrases withdrawn from 400 samples both in English and Vietnamese which are collected from the data for analysis guaranteeing the validity and reliability of the samples are mainly taken from bilingual novels, stories, poems, newspapers and websites. Then, the analytic method was used to clarify and categorize the data. Besides, the frequency occurrence was applied to withdraw the conclusion on the findings of the research. Together with the analysis, a discussion and comments on each feature have been made. The process of the study takes readers from the similarities and differences in syntactic and semantic features of English and Vietnamese expressions of joy. Through the adoption of a qualitative approach, the researcher analyses and describes various samples to find out the syntactic, semantic of expressions of joy in English and Vietnamese. With the description, analysis and comparison between the devices in English and those in Vietnamese, the findings will serve as a foundation to put forward a number of implications for English language teaching, learning and especially in translating.
