| Zusammenfassung: | This is essentially an investigation of “English for Nurses” textbook used at Quang Nam medical college in terms of vocabularies and grammatical structures. The study attempts to find out the degree of “match” and “mismatch” between vocabularies and grammatical structures used in the textbook and those of the learners’ language needs. To this end, two instruments of data collection have been used: the textbook and interviews; and the results from these techniques have been compared. The good points of the textbook are highlighted. The book supplies enough three categories of words as the need of students. Moreover, almost all its grammatical structures have been used to communicate in the nursing context. The inadequacies of the book are the inappropriateness of the meaning of some words and the uninteresting topics of the texts. It is suggested that some more vocabularies and grammatical structures be need adding and the topics of the texts should be modified as well. It is hoped that the results of the stud |
