| Zusammenfassung: | Proverbs are the part of the oral tradition of a cultural group. Because they are usually spoken and not written, they must be vivid and have the quality that they can be easily remembered. If the qualities of proverbs are clearly investigated, the understanding and using effectively the proverbs in communication will become easier for learners and teachers in foreign language acquisition.
Transitivity system is one of the most essential aspects in Experiential Grammar of Functional Grammar. Particularly, Relational Identifying processes are ones taking a plenty of space in English as well as Vietnamese proverbs. Therefore, the main study is to describe and analyze the nature of Relational Identifying processes in English and Vietnamese proverbs to find the similarities and differences. The study is also to process to contrast the semantic and syntactic features of English and Vietnamese proverbs expressed in Relational Identifying processes. The result of the study is hoped to apply Relational Identifying processes in teaching and learning English and Vietnamese proverbs more effectively.
The data for the analysis of the study are taken form English and Vietnamese proverbs dictionaries and relevant material which are reliable. The study will bring a new and interesting approach to English and Vietnamese proverbs investigation. Especially, through the comparison and finding son English and Vietnamese proverbs expressed in Relational Identifying processes; the teachers will bring learners more flexibility in learning proverbs and use them effectively. |
