Summary:Book Review (BR) is a form of literary criticism in which a book is analyzed based on content, style, and merit. It is often carried out in periodicals, as school work, or on the internet. A review often contains the typical discourse features such as the layout, lexical features, syntactic structures and cohesive devices. Based on the theories of Discourse Analysis (DA), this paper aims at investigating into the English Book Reviews (EBRs) and Vietnamese Book Reviews (VBRs) in an attempt to discover the striking discourse features and then find out the similarities and differences between them by these features. The findings also aim at suggesting and implying for teaching English to Vietnamese learners, especially students who major in writing as well as any reviewers in producing the successful book reviews
