Résumé:This is a corpus-based study on syntactic and semantic features of instruction for use of household appliances in English and Vietnamese. An analysis is made to find out how the structures have been used in English and Vietnamese instruction for use, as well as provide a better understanding of two languages concerned with the function of syntactic forms used in instructional text. Together with the analysis, a discussion and comments on syntactic and semantic features have been made. In the process of the study, the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese instruction for use in terms of syntactic and semantic features have been presented so as to lead to the conclusion and implication at the end of the thesis. The thesis also suggests some guidelines for further researches on different fields of instruction for use so that other authors study deeper the interesting areas of instruction for use of household appliances
