Achoimre:This is a corpus-based study on the syntactic and semantic features of English and Vietnamese idioms relating to education. This is a descriptive study executed in a contrastive analysis with English chosen as the source language and Vietnamese as the target language. First, we describe some syntactic and semantic features of idioms in English and Vietnamese relating to Education. Then, we draw out some similarities and differences of the two languages in terms of syntactic and semantic features. Basing on these findings, implications about syntactic and semantic features of English and Vietnamese idiom relating to Education have been proposed to the Vietnamese learners of English for the purpose of achieving high communicative goal.
