Résumé:In transitivity system, processes are central and take plenty of space. They center on the part of the clauses which are realized by the verbal groups. Out of the six processes listed by Halliday, the ‘processes’ of changing occupy a considerable room in both spoken and written discourse. They are identified not only by the verbs but also the other linguistic elements which will be presented clearly in this thesis. On the scope of this thesis, the category of vocabulary and grammatical framework used to express the meaning of change from the view of Functional Grammar are identified. Moreover, the contrastive analysis of elements denoting the ‘processes’ of changing in English and Vietnamese is also done to point out the similarities and differences on linguistic features of these elements. This research paper will provide Vietnamese learners with framework of elements denoting the ‘processes’ of changing systematically and help them have flexible and suitable choices of words, phrases, structures or expressions in expressing the ‘processes’ of changing in the both languages: the English and Vietnamese
