Achoimre:This thesis is designed to study semantic features of the words “heart” and their translational equivalents. 225 samples have been taken from literary work ( Gone with The Wind ), Internet in both English and Vietnamese languages. The descriptive method has been used combined with the qualitative and quantitative approaches. The analys is carried out to find out similarities and differences in semantic fields of the word “heart” and their Vietnamese translational equivalents. Furthermore some remarks of syntactic features, translation methods and cultural features of the word “ heart” have been found in this thesis. Finally the implications for teaching learning and translating of the word “heart” are offered.
