| Zusammenfassung: | This study aims at investigating the semantics of synonyms that help English learners cultivate the ability to distinguish synonyms and use them properly in specific contexts. The purposes of the study are
- To help Vietnamese learners of English to be alert to the existence of English and Vietnamese synonyms in the lexicon of each language.
- To stimulate Vietnamese learners of English to obtain the insight of the semantic nature of synonyms, in general, and synonyms used in sports commentaries, in particular.
- To help them to be aware of the differences in each group of synonyms.
- To inspire the learners to love their own language, their own culture through the study of the specific group of synonyms. |
