Description
Summary:Reading is one of the fundamental skills in language learning and all English as a Second Language (ESL) learners need to acquire it in order to master a language. However, statistics from the survey questionnaires and semi-structured interviewsshow that final-year English-majored students at UFLs have faced reading comprehension problems in Vstep reading tests. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the perception of reading comprehension problems in Vstep reading tests among final-year English - majored students who had taken the Vstep exam and put forward some solutions to address these problems. The research employed a mixed methods approach, incorporating both surveys and in-depth interviews. The study involved 250 senior English-majored students at UFLs. Findings from both quantitative and qualitative data revealed a consensus among students regarding the primary challenge in Vstep reading test comprehension being associated with language knowledge. Additionally, various solutions were proposed to enhance reading comprehension skills in Vstep tests.
