| সংক্ষিপ্ত: | In the era of Industry 4.0, technology is encouraged to apply to a variety of
fields in the world, especially education. Humans make use of more new tools
in learning and teaching in general, and in language learning in particular.
ChatGPT, one of them, has just been introduced and promised an enormous
impact on humans. Therefore, this study aims to discover students’ perceptions
of its strengths and challenges in promoting learner autonomy. Self Determination Theory (SDT) is considered the main framework of this study.
The main method used in this study is combining quantitative and qualitative
analysis. The former is conducted by collecting answers to questionnaires and
using statistical analysis software IBM, SPSS, to evaluate quantitative data.
Besides, the researcher carries out the latter with an interview and then
analyzes the data by the topic analytical method. The results indicate that most
students at UD-UFLS involved the research have positive perceptions of
ChatGPT. They found it useful to use ChatGPT to develop their language
skills and accepted that ChatGPT could enhance their autonomy. However,
ChatGPT seemed not to have the ability to help learners interact or
communicate much with their teachers and peers. |
