| Özet: | This study is aimed at finding the similarities and differences between epistemic modal auxiliaries and deontic modal auxiliaries used in novel “The Gadfly” in order to help people distinguish epistemic modals from deontic modals and their role in sentences or utterances. Moreover, it is necessary to explore their equivalent meanings in Vietnamese; thereby providing a deeper theoretical and practical insight into systemic comparison of modality realized by modal auxiliary verbs. |
