Description
Summary:Measurement and comparison are the principal activities in Science to understand real life phenomena and to prove and to apply new theoretical concepts. New technologies and recent findings in Spinal Deformity can provide useful tools to conceive new diagnostic procedures, new approaches to treatment - both conservative and surgical - and an increasing attention in a quantitative pathology monitoring and follow up. For this purpose the basic understanding of biomechanical, orthopaedical as well as neuromotor postural control aspects must be combined with advanced technology in computer vision, pattern recognition, image processing, optoelectronics, high level mathematics, mechanics and physics. This is an interdisciplinary task that requires the contribution of researchers and scientists working in complementary fields such as Orthopaedics, Neurology, Rehabilitation, Bioengineering, Biomechanics, Photogrammetry and Advanced Technology.
