Francis Fukuyama

thumb|Fukuyama (2015) Francis Yoshihiro Fukuyama (Chicago, 27 oktober 1952) is een Amerikaanse socioloog, politicoloog en filosoof. Zijn bekendste werken zijn ''The End of History and the Last Man'' (1992) en zijn twee boeken over politieke ontwikkeling ''The Origins of Political Order: From Prehuman Times to the French Revolution'' (2011) en ''Political Order and Political Decay: From the Industrial Revolution to the Globalisation of Democracy'' (2014).

Fukuyama is hoogleraar aan de faculteit politieke wetenschappen van de universiteit van Stanford. Aldaar is hij sinds 2010 ook hoofdonderzoeker bij het ''Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies,'' directeur van het ''Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law'' en onderwijsdirecteur van ''Ford Dorsey master's of International Policy.'' Voordien was hij hoogleraar en directeur van het internationale ontwikkelingsprogramma aan de ''School of Advanced International Studies'' van de Johns Hopkins-universiteit.
