Updated production and geographical data are presented in this sourcebook, as well as new information on a number of African countries and regional information on rice production in West Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. Specific subjects covered include: genetic diversity, morphology and growth, uses, and rice ecosystems. Rice cultivation around the world is reviewed, providing information on the importance of rice, crop environments (irrigated, rainfed lowland, upland and flood-prone), and production constraints and opportunities in 30 countries in Africa, Asia, and North, South and Central America; Australia is also covered.
