Descripció
Sumari:Produced by the Office of the Chief Economist, East Asia and pacific Region of the World Bank, this collection of essays brings together 17 contributors from around East Asia--senior policy advisers to national and international financial institutions, government officials, and scholars--in order to discuss East Asian growth and development; the trajectory of regional integration; issues of inequality, pollution, and corruption; and the role and sources of leadership in the future. In addition to the four primary themes that weave through the essays, specific topics addressed include rural- based development under globalization, financial cooperation, China's accession to the World Trade Organization, principles of East Asian governance. Understandably, Chinese development paths are also a significant concern reflected throughout the text
