The Platonic dialogues Euthypro, Apology of Socrates, and Crito center upon Socrates' trial and condemnation - he was charged with impiety and corupting the young - and upon his speeches and deeds during that crisis. Aristophanes' Clouds puts forward in comic form a profound critique of Socrates by a leading poet of the day.
