Chapters on thermodynamics, mixed potential theory, and passivity lay the foundation for subsequent discussions of galvanic corrosion, pitting and crevice corrosion, environmental cracking, intergranular corrosion, hydrogen damage, erosion-corrosion, and weldment corrosion. Subsequent chapters review aqueous corrosion, including effects of temperature, dissolved solutes, and biological organisms; and later, atmospheric corrosion at ambient temperature, along with oxidation and scaling in elevated-temperature gases.
