Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:This text clearly presents modern concepts, techniques and practical details of basic skills required to help patients with the use of assistive devices. It shows the reader how to teach patients to adapt to and efficiently use crutches, wheelchairs, walkers and other equipment to increase mobility. Coverage is broader and more current than other texts, with greater emphasis on patient education. The author not only provides clear-cut "how to" instructions, but also includes rationales and physiologic principles that explain why techniques are used. Subjects of body mechanics, gait training and transfer mechanics are discussed in greater detail than in other books. Learning aids include chapter objectives, definitions of new terms in each chapter and an extensive list of current references. Special attention is focused on infection control, emergencies and patients whose conditions require that they be attached to other equipment from IVs to oxygen. Photographs illustrate equipment, procedures and techniques discussed in the text
