Tóm tắt: | Michael Ryan is a professor of communication at the University of Houston. He received a B.A. degree in government and an M.A. in journalism, both at the University of Texas at Austin, and a Ph.D. in journalism at Southern Illinois University. He worked at the San Angelo, Texas, Standard-Times, the Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale, Ill. and Long News Service, a capitol news bureau in Austin. He co-authored Basic News Reporting (1977), and has authored or co-authored nearly 100 scholarly and professional journal articles. His research interests include ethics in journalism and public relations, relationships between journalists and public relations practitioners, media professionals’ use of the World Wide Web and research quality and ethics in academic research. He has taught journalism and public relations writing for more than 30 years. James W. Tankard, Jr., is the Jesse H. Jones Professor in Journalism at the University of Texas at Austin. He received his master's degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Ph.D. in communication from Stanford University. He has a background in print journalism, having worked for The Raleigh Times and The Associated Press. He is the author of The Statistical Pioneers (1984) and the co-author of Basic News Reporting (1977) and Communication Theories (5th. ed., 2000). He has written six book chapters and is the author or co-author of 27 journal articles. He served as editor of Journalism Monographs from 1988 to 1994. His current research interests include online journalism and social science theory-building. |
