It arranges headwords alphabetically and precedes each term with an abbreviation for its field, which helps place terms in context, e.g., "electromag" for electromagnetism. The approximately 18,000 terms are taken from McGraw-Hill Dictionary of Scientific and Technical Terms (6th ed., CH, Mar'03), a much larger dictionary (110,000 terms) that covers both natural and applied sciences.
