要約:The Politeness Theory is always adhered to in business letters and letters of apology for the importance of English commercial correspondence in international trade. The application of politeness theory in English commercial correspondence and English commercial apology letters necessitates the use of euphemism as a crucial linguistic strategy. In apology letters, it is essential to examine euphemisms according to their classifications and primary functions. This study investigates the use of euphemisms in English letters of apology by analyzing 100 apology letters from renowned books and then systematizing and evaluating their euphemism usage. A qualitative method is being conducted to investigate euphemisms found in standard apology letters. It was discovered that euphemism is frequently employed by writers to maintain a positive image while minimizing the potential FTAs. Finally, this study concludes that euphemisms can be a useful tool for maintaining positive business relationships, especially when apologies are required. Also discussed are the limitations of the study and suggestions for future research.
