The main goal of this thesis is to thoroughly investigate the structural loss and gain that occurs during the translation process in the museum's introductions. To achieve this, data was collected from both Vietnamese and English versions of the introductions to identify any loss and gain in the translation process. The next step was to describe the different types of loss and gain in the translation process. Qualitative research was used as the research approach, and the documentary method was employed to complete the study. The findings of the research revealed that there were 268 patterns based on 58 samples of loss and gain in the introductory translation of The Da Nang Museum. The translator intentionally lost or gained parts of a sentence to convey a different message that could be aligned with the will of the translators or target readers. In some cases, the translation also shortened or added some parts to explain the sentence thoroughly and logically. As a consequence of the investigation, this thesis sheds light on the intricacies of translation in the context of cultural and historical museums and provides insights into the types of loss and gain that can occur during the translation process. It highlights the importance of carefully considering the target audience and the intended message when translating cultural and historical content. 2025-03-09T09:48:10Z 2025-03-09T09:48:10Z 2023 Working Paper https://data.ufl.udn.vn/handle/UFL/1208 en application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document Đại học Ngoại ngữ, Đại học Đà Nẵng |
