| Özet: | This is a study of discourse analysis of college admissions essay in English. The data in the study are 40 samples of accepted admissions essays collected from some reliable books in English. Through a variety of methods, the thesis describes the discourse structure and lexico-grammatical features used in these kinds of essays. This thesis is significant in providing some linguistic as well as pedagogical contributions. Linguistically, the thesis yields more insights into admissions essays. Pedagogically, its results can be useful to ESP teaching and learning English, especially writing skill. |
