| Özet: | This paper is to study semantic and syntactic features of English and Vietnamese idioms denoting work. Both qualitative and quantitative anyalysis is made use of to investigate 440 idioms in English and Vietnamese from numerous number of samples from various linguistic books, dictionaries, short stories, prose and from internet. The analysis is carried out to find out the similarities and differences in syntactic and semantic features of English and Vietnamese idioms denoiting work. The thesis suggests some implications on the language teaching and learning of idioms. |
