Summary:This study aimed to discover the syntactic, semantic and pragmatic aspects of Compound Adjectives in English and Vietnamese online newspapers. The study is carried out through the adoption of descriptive and contrastive approach.The corpus of 500 English samples and 500 Vietnamese ones randomly were gathered from different websites such as http://www.skyspotrs.com,http://www.soccernet.espn.go.com,http://www.zing .vn,http://www.thanhnien.com.vn...The drawings from findings and discussions help Vietnamese learners of English use Compound Adjectives effectively in their concrete communication situations. The most important and significant aspect of the study, the similarities and differences between English and Vietnamese compound adjectives in online newspapers in the view of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic features, is presented in order to help learners have better use of language in communication. The findings of the study show the frequency and variety in terms of syntactic, semantic and pragmatic features of compound adjectives. On the basis of the findings, some teaching implications consisting of strategies and some suggested exercises have been put forward. In addition, this research helps learners of the two languages achieve better communicative competence
