| Streszczenie: | This is a contrastive investigation into linguistic features of expressions
of public signs in English and Vietnamese. The investigation focuses on
syntactic and semantic features of expressions of public signs to find out
similarities and differences of expressions of public signs used in English and
Vietnamese. In order to obtain these aims, a quantitative method, a qualitative
method and a contrastive analysis method are taken into account. The data are
collected from various sources such as newspapers, posters, public areas,
parks, hotels, restaurants, etc and from the internet. The findings show that
expressions of public signs have remarkable syntactic and semantic features
such as phrases, sentences to some extent. The investigation also provides
some implications for compiling public signs and using them effectively |
