| Sažetak: | This study investigated into the conceptual metaphors of sadness in
English and Vietnamese love songs of various composers in the two
languages. This is a descriptive study executed in a contrastive analysis in 100
Vietnamese songs and 100 English songs. Under the framework of cognitive
linguistics, we looked into how the English and Vietnamese made use of
metaphorical expressions in love songs. Then we point out all findings about
similarities and differences of images used in sadness metaphors through
English and Vietnamese songs. Basing on these findings, implications about
perceiving, and comprehending metaphor expressions of sadness in English
and Vietnamese have been proposed to the Vietnamese learners of English for
the language transfer in interpreting and using metaphors. |
