With the aim to investigate linguistic devices used for avoiding conflict in conversations, the study is based on descriptive, contrastive, quantitative and qualitative methods. The films are collected and analyzed to examine the frequency of linguistic devices used for avoiding conflict in English and Vietnamese conversations.
