To achieve the purpose, the thesis solved four following research problems. Firstly, based on a ‘Semantic Map Model’ analysis tool from a linguistic typology perspective and dative function conceptual space of Haspelmath (2003), cross-domain thematic role conceptual space of Zhang Min (2013), a semantic map of ‘ei’, ‘eseo’, ‘ege’, ‘(eu)ro’ was formed. In addition, based on cross-linguistic semantic maps that identify universal and markedness, the marked and unmarked values of the meaning and function of each particle were revealed. From these points, based on the Markedness Differential Hypothesis proposed by Eckman (1977), the acquisition difficulty and acquisition order were predicted. Secondly, according to Eckman's Markedness Differential Hypothesis, the <Korean Learner Corpus Annotation> which is presented by the National Institute of Korean Language was used to understand which meanings and functions Vietnamese people learning Korean were acquired first, which meanings and functions were acquired late, and to comprehend the difficulty of acquiring each particle. Base on this, the thesis demonstrated acquisition difficulty and acquisition order as previously predicted. In this phase, the learner's interlanguage developmental pattern was examined, and the proficiency variable and the language data type variable were also analyzed. From this point, the thesis continued to identify the relationship between the difficulties of Vietnamese people learning Korean and the Markedness Differential Hypothesis in acquiring Korean adverbial particles ‘ei’, ‘eseo’, ‘ege’, and ‘(eu)ro’. From the result, it was confirmed that the markedness difference affected the learners' production patterns, but in some cases, the acquisition was not totally affected by the markedness difference. Moreover, after analyzing the learners' interlanguage data, it was determined that the acquisition order could be further subdivided; as a result, the thesis subdivided the acquisition into more steps. Thirdly, to clarify whether there are other factors such as the L1 transfer phenomenon and L2 grammatical restriction affecting acquisition difficulty apart from the markedness difference factor, the thesis analyzed learners' error patterns for each meaning and function of ‘ei', 'eseo', 'ege', and ‘(eu)ro'. To explain this point, an analysis were conducted based on the <Korean Learner Corpus Error Annotation> proposed by the National Institute of Korean Language. In the error analysis results, overall, replacement errors accounted for the largest proportion in the error patterns of ‘ei’, ‘eseo’, ‘ege’, and ‘(eu)ro’, and there were no omission errors. The causes of errors, which Vietnamese people learning Korean made, analyzed in this thesis are due to the influence of their mother tongue (L1) and the complexity of the Korean language (L2). Fourthly, a Learner Perception Survey was conducted to study how Vietnamese people learning Korean recognize the causes of each type of replacement error most frequently made. According to a survey, the learner responded that a reason which occurred in the four replacement error types is because of the complexity of the Korean language.
