With trade, I consider the effects of AfT on two aspects of recipient countries: exports and imports. Regards to the extensive margin and intensive margin of trade, extensive margins are defined as the number of exported/ imported products of recipient countries (i.e. products extensive margin) or the number of partner countries (destination countries in the case of exports/ source countries in the case of imports) (i.e. partner countries extensive margin), while the intensive margins are defined as the average value of each exported (imported) product line (i.e. product intensive margin) or the average trade value of each partner country (i.e. partner countries intensive margin). For FDI, I divide FDI inflows to recipient countries into two types: greenfield FDI and M&A FDI. Regards to the extensive margins and intensive margins of FDI, the extensive margins of FDI are the counts of greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI projects (i.e. greenfield FDI/M&A FDI extensive margin) or the counts of greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI source countries (i.e. greenfield FDI/M&A FDI source countries extensive margin), while the intensive margins are defined as the average value of each greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI project (i.e. greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI project intensive margin) or the average value of each greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI source country (i.e. greenfield FDI/ M&A FDI source country intensive margin).
