The study’s aim is to investigate relevant difficulties encountered by English language teachers in terms of teaching of speaking skill to non-English majored students at Da Lat University. 150 non-English majored students and 20 teachers were involved in this research. The tools employed were questionnaires regarding problems faced by both teachers and students in the process of teaching and learning speaking skill. The findings show the problems encountered by teachers in the process of teaching speaking skill: not enough and efficient facilities in language laboratory, Overcrowded students within a class not appropriate time for speaking practice, poor Vietnam’s educational system, not good command of English speaking skills, too much use of mother tongue in the classroom, not good enough pronunciation, ways of error correction, ignorance to focus on idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and collocations, teacher-centered classes, little group work, not interesting topics. 2023-08-14T05:27:49Z 2023-08-14T05:27:49Z 2020 Thesis https://scholar.dlu.edu.vn/thuvienso/handle/DLU123456789/116238 en application/pdf Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology |
