to the organisation of the First International Conference on Biomedical Spectroscopy
(Cardiff, 2001) which was dedicated to the memory of late Professor Dennis Chapman
FRS. He was a rare breed of scientist who did not restrict himself to one particular
technique but was always on the outlook for new techniques to use in his research. He
truly believed that advances in our understanding of biological processes are intricately
linked with the development and application of physical techniques. He was one of the
pioneers in the application of different spectroscopic methods for the analysis of biological
molecules. |
