Ecology and Management of Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum)

Significant problems with invasive alien species are a relatively recent phenomenon. In most parts of the world, the biggest impacts have been felt only in the last 50 years. There are some prominent examples of widespread invasions, presumably with impacts (although in most cases we have little...

There are some prominent examples of widespread invasions, presumably with impacts (although in most cases we have little or no information on this) that date back much further. For instance, Charles Darwin wrote of invasive populations of the alien milk thistle, Silybum marianum, and cardoon, Cynara cardunculus, covering square kilometres in Argentina in 1833. Countless species were added to lists of invasive aliens in the 20th century and for every region for which accurate data are available, the numbers of species at every stage of the introduction–invasion continuum are increasing. More worrisome invaders, more biodiversity affected and everincreasing complexities for those tasked with the management of natural and semi-natural ecosystems. 2014-03-05T01:28:56Z 2014-03-05T01:28:56Z 2007 Book 978 1 84593 206 0 https://scholar.dlu.edu.vn/thuvienso/handle/DLU123456789/36411 en application/pdf CABI
