| Tóm tắt: | The work presented in this book deals with the problem of engineering normative
open systems using the multi-agent paradigm. Normative open systems are under
stood in this work as systems in which heterogeneous and autonomous entities and
institutions coexist in a complex social and legal framework that can evolve to address
the different and often conflicting objectives of the many stakeholders involved. The
first section of this chapter gives details about the kind of systems we deal with.
This book is focused on the analysis and design stages of the development process
based on the multi-agent paradigm. Therefore, Sect.1.2 gives a brief overview of this
paradigm and shows its suitability for developing normative open systems.
