However, research into beliefs and practices of foreign language learning, namely English, with regard to pronunciation within the Vietnamese context is still scarce. This current study, therefore, aims to investigate English as a foreign language (EFL) teachers’ beliefs and practices of pronunciation in a Vietnamese context. Data collected in this current study include questionnaires, observations and semi-structured interviews. This study was conducted with seventy teachers at an English language center in the Mekong Delta, Viet Nam. The findings indicate that teachers had positive beliefs about teaching pronunciation and that teachers integrated pronunciation in their English classes with specific focus on intelligibility. Their teaching practices were observed to be more traditional oriented and focused more on segmental than suprasegmental features. Despite the fact that teachers were confident and comfortable in teaching pronunciation, they called for more professional pronunciation training courses. The study concludes by discussing pedagogical implications for better pronunciation instruction.
