On the basic of corpus collected from the novel “A Farewell To Arms” and its Vietnamese Version “Gia Tu Vu Khi” metaphorical expressions in the novel are described and analyzed in order to help readers have more understandings on the features of metaphor in “A Farewell To Arms”. All 200 samples participated in this study including 100 samples in “ A Farewell To Arms” and 100 samples in its Vietnmese version “Gia Tu Vu Khi”. On the basic of the findings, some implications are put forward for the teaching and learning English for Vietnamese learners.
