This study aims at: - Investigating the similarities and differences in the use of these softening expressions of death in English and Vietnamese in terms of semantic, syntactic and pragmatic features. - Finding out how expressions of death are used in English and Vietnamese in terms of semantic, syntactic and pragmatic features. - Helping the learners of English and Vietnamese acquire a better understanding of the semantic, syntactic and pragmatic features of expressions of death in the two languages.
