Sumario:Motion verbs (or verbs of motion) are usually understood as the verbs used to express moving states. The notion of moving states is viewed as too broad. It can be the viewable movements, physical changes and introspective happenings. In literature, rhetoric and style add more senses to motion verbs. All these create a large domain of meanings of motion verbs. Interpreting and translating such polysemous words in literary works are not easy and necessarily depend on the context including different contextual features. On the scope of this thesis, the data from some popular literary works and their renderings are studied to find out the commonly-seen contextual features and their impacts on the process of interpreting and translating motion verbs in general and in the literary works in particular. This research paper provides Vietnamese learners who are interested in translation, especially literary translation, with the framework of contextual features in the process of interpreting motion verbs in an English text. This framework somewhat helps them have flexible and suitable choices of equivalents in the process of translating motion verbs from English into Vietnamese.
