| Zusammenfassung: | This study investigates the ways of expressing future in English and Vietnamese in terms of tenses in the report “Vietnam 2035” - a joint undertaking by experts from Vietnam and the World Bank. It predicted that the time meaning of “sẽ” indicating future meaning can be clearly seen in the document. Besides, it provides the authors’ ways of translation when expressing future in English. These ways would be a benefit to those who would like to express future time in English and Vietnamese in many language situations. “Sẽ” is a future tense marker in Vietnamese and the English language has no formal future tense, but of course it is possible to talk about future time in the two languages with a lot of different ways in many flexible choices. |
