DEVELOPMENT OF A NEUTRON/GAMMA PULSE SHAPE DISCRIMINATION METHOD FOR THE FAST NEUTRON DETECTOR USING EJ-301 LIQUID SCINTILLATOR

Miêu tả
Tóm tắt:A new neutron - gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD) technique was developed that base on the reference-pulse (RP) method for the fast-neutron detector using the EJ-301 scintillator. The reference-pulse was averaged by a large number of neutron and gamma pulses in the energy range of 200 – 1000 keVee. The digital charge integration (DCI) method was also investigated to compare the effect of neutron / gamma discrimination with the RP method. Analytical results of the figure of merits (FoM) for 25 ÷ 1000 keVee energy thresholds are achieved from 4.47 to 20.6. The RP method proves to be better than the DCI method of the efficacy of neutron / gamma discrimination. Specifically, the improvement is the low energy range of thresholds below 100 keVee that the FoM value has improved to 730% at 100 keVee threshold.
