We thank all of the contributing authors who have dedicated their valuable time and expertise to this project and endured many months of working with us; without them, the task of assembling this volume would have been considerably more daunting. So much of the knowledge about pandemic preparedness is held within the new ‘international fellowship’ of pandemic planners with whom we have interacted over several intense years. We thank these colleagues, too numerous to mention individually, for the facts and wisdom they have imparted.
