Gaia:The majority of students lack of awareness about the importance of learning English so that they do not pay attention to learning process in class. Moreover, many of them do not remember the basic knowledge and skills so that they cannot finish the exercises and the tests well. In addition, some students have the situations that their parents must move to Ho Chi Minh City to make their own living, while their children have to stay at home with their grandparents, who do not have knowledge about English so that they cannot help them to overcome difficulties in learning English. In other words, students lack of the taking care of their parents. Besides, teacher’s poor methods also affect students’ attitude in learning process. Finally, English is not their favorite subject, they do not need spending a lot of time learning or practicing it. They also cannot find out advantages of learning English. For these reasons, I think that I have to investigate students’ perspectives toward reading activities and effects of using fairy tales for developing and promoting the reading comprehension ability of students in secondary school in general and in my secondary school in particular.
