Tóm tắt: | This study examines the effect of ChatGPT on EFL (English as a foreign language) students’ engagement and motivation. It adopted a quasi-experimental pre-test–post-test design. A sample of 50 EFL students was recruited to participate in the study. The experimental group was provided access to ChatGPT as an additional academic resource beyond regular lecture periods. The results demonstrated the experimental group’s significantly higher engagement and motivation scores compared to the control group. ChatGPT had the potential to support language learning environments, as seen in the feedback gathered from the participants. Most participants found the platform helpful, engaging, and user-friendly regarding the improvement of their English proficiency. These findings indicate ChatGPT’s effectiveness as a supplementary tool for EFL courses, opening new opportunities for artificial intelligence (AI)-driven language learning tools. |
