Beskrivning
Sammanfattning:The objectives of the Livestock Competitiveness and Food Safety Project for Vietnam are to increase the production efficiency of household-based livestock producers, to reduce the environmental impact of livestock production, processing and marketing, and to improve food safety in livestock product supply chains (mainly meat) in selected provinces. There are three components to the project. The first component of the project is upgrading household-based livestock production and market integration. The key objective of this component is to support the improvement of: (a) the competitiveness of household-based livestock production; (b) food safety and hygiene along the meat supply chain; and (c) the environmental management of livestock waste. The second component of the project is strengthening central-level livestock and veterinary services. This component will support the strengthening of the capacity of the Department of Livestock Production (DLP) and the Department of Animal Health (DAH) under Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in developing and monitoring the implementation of bio-security, livestock disease control, animal production technology, food safety, and livestock waste management policies and technical standards. The third component of the project is project management, and monitoring and evaluation. This component will provide support to project implementation through the strengthening of coordination of the various government agencies at central, provincial and district levels, and the monitoring and evaluation of project activities and impact.
